Violin Instructor

Rebecca Cherry is a professional violinist, recording artist, and dedicated educator with more than 20 years of teaching and performance experience. Based in Austin, Texas, she offers private violin lessons to students of all ages and levels, both in person and online.

Rebecca began studying the violin at the age of three through the Suzuki Method, a philosophy that continues to influence her teaching today. She believes every student should develop beautiful tone, strong listening skills, musical expression, and confidence from the very beginning. Combined with a disciplined focus on scales, arpeggios, etudes, and solid technical fundamentals, her lessons provide students with the skills they need to become expressive, well-rounded musicians.

Her formal training began at the Vancouver Academy of Music in Canada before she earned both her Bachelor of Music and Graduate Performance Diploma from the Peabody Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Herbert Greenberg, former Concertmaster of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. She also studied with distinguished violinists Joseph Silverstein, Pinchas Zukerman, and Andrés Cárdenes through masterclasses and private instruction—experiences that continue to shape both her artistry and her teaching.

For more than two decades, Rebecca has taught students from age three through adulthood, from complete beginners to advanced performers. Every lesson is thoughtfully tailored to each student's goals, learning style, and personality. Whether a student is learning their first notes, preparing for youth orchestra auditions, competitions, solo performances, or conservatory and college auditions, Rebecca creates an encouraging environment where students develop technical excellence, confidence, discipline, and a genuine love of music.

Rebecca is the founder of **Red Rabbit School of Music**, a New York City-based music school specializing in strings and woodwinds instruction. Through private lessons, group classes, and school partnerships, Red Rabbit has helped hundreds of students discover the joy of making music while building a strong technical foundation.

Alongside her teaching career, Rebecca has enjoyed an international performance career as both a soloist and collaborative artist. She has performed with ensembles including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Oslo Chamber Orchestra, New York Pops, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, appearing in renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall, Vienna's Musikverein, and Avery Fisher Hall.

As a recording artist, Rebecca has performed with Adele, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Chris Martin, Jay-Z, The Roots, Andrea Bocelli, and many other internationally recognized artists. She has appeared on the Grammy Awards, *Saturday Night Live*, *MTV Unplugged*, and *The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon*. Her work has also been featured in *Forbes*, and she received a Clio Award for her original work in film and television.

Above all, Rebecca believes every student has a unique musical voice. Her goal is to provide exceptional musical training while helping students build confidence, creativity, discipline, and a lifelong appreciation for music.
