Nathan Smith is a violinist and violist from Austin, Texas. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance from Oberlin Conservatory in 2020, and his Master’s in Viola Performance from the University of Houston in 2022. During his graduate studies, he performed with the Tomatz Graduate String Quartet, collaborating on works by contemporary composers such as Lowell Liebermann and Caroline Shaw.

 

After completing his studies, Nathan returned to his hometown of Austin, where he combines performance with a passion for teaching. He understands the patient dedication required to pass on the tradition of classical music and works with students of all ages and skill levels. Known for adapting his approach to meet each student’s individual needs, Nathan strives to inspire curiosity, discipline, and joy in music-making.​
